The author has created a cute and captivating tale for young children transitioning from baths to showers. The illustrations are bright and colorful. The wording and writing style is simple and understandable. I think children will like the font changes for certain words. I like things like that because it easy to add emphasis to the words when reading it aloud. It is just right for a preschool age child up to about 7. With the simplicity of the story, I don't feel like it will hold the older child's attention. We follow along as Jack takes his first shower and learns it is not as scary as he thought. Jack takes his new found knowledge of facing showers and decides to catch the Bigfoot!
I liked that the author didn't venture into fantasy and left it realistic with Bigfoot being Dad. I also thought the ending was adorable with both Jack and Dad getting spooked by Mom. I felt like it was engaging and just the right length. I look forward to seeing the response of my little nephew when he comes to visit. He loves to read stories and it will be fun to share this with him. Overall, delightful read for small children.
